Kathleen Mooney (Katie) is a New York City based early childhood teacher, literacy coach and dog mom with a passion for boxing, art and inclusion. She earned a B.F.A from Pratt Institute in media arts before heeding the call to the classroom. She has dedicated nearly twenty years to instilling a passion for literacy and the arts in young children.

Inspired by her brother Kevin and her own students, she wrote About My Brother to represent families with children who have special needs, aiming to foster empathy and social inclusion. When not teaching or writing, she enjoys, bike rides, boxing and supervising squirrel chases with her spirited rat terrier named Finleigh.
